I love adventure. Whether it be by sea, air, or land, I'm constantly on
the go, looking for ways to grow and develop my mind, body, and spirit.
On a research trip in Nevada
As a student at Harvard University, I have been fortunate enough to explore and sample a
wide range of scientific fields. My interests have taken me from labs at NASA and Harvard
Medical School to the jungles of Costa Rica and the coral reefs of
Panama. Through the support of my professors and Harvard, I've been able
to push my intellectual boundaries to learn about the natural world.

My passion for animals, especially snakes, began at a young age. Both my brother, Jay, and I have been blessed to grow up near Walden Pond, the home of the legendary naturalist and writer, Henry David Thoreau. Early on, we enjoyed a
life outdoors, immersing ourselves in all that
nature has to offer.

Our parents instilled in us a great appreciation and respect for nature and encouraged us to explore the world around us to the nth degree. To this day, we are still a team, whether that be on a fishing trip or making a short film.

My passion for snakes began at the age of four, when I
got my first pet ball python. She was a
gorgeous specimen with a sweet personality. As my interests grew, I began taking an in-depth approach to learning about different
species of snakes, their natural history, ecology, and behavior. At my high school, Belmont Hill School, I established the Life Science Research Lab under the mentorship of Dr. Hans F. E. Wachtmeister. The lab studied the reproductive biology of snakes and lizards and housed over 40 different specimens, representing close to ten different species. This year, the lab celebrates its ten-year anniversary!
Conducting research on water snakes sometimes involves, well, water

An avid outdoorsman, I love learning skills in wilderness survival
and testing my abilities to cope with extreme environments. Whether it be SCUBA diving
in the frigid waters of the Atlantic in winter or surviving 120 degree heat in the Nevada
desert, I'm ready for the next adventure.
